Boost Public Meeting Attendance with Hybrid Formats

From "Proposals: empower your community to drive change"

Go to the project

Public meetings often suffer from low attendance, especially from residents who can’t attend in person due to time constraints or accessibility issues. This proposal suggests hosting hybrid events where residents can join in person or online through a live-streamed session. By integrating online participation tools like live polls and Q&A, public servants can gather real-time feedback from both in-person and remote attendees.

This solution ensures broader participation, enabling residents to engage on their own terms, leading to more inclusive and diverse input on important community decisions.

I love the hybrid model, but I think we should also consider accessibility issues. Not everyone has reliable internet, and some residents might struggle with the technology needed to join online. Perhaps we can have community tech support sessions or a hotline where people can get assistance before the meeting.

I totally agree! We've seen great results with hybrid meetings in our town. More people are willing to join when they can log in from home after work.
